Cursor Bugbot pricing: what a review costs and what a team pays

Cursor dropped Bugbot's $40 seat fee in May 2026. It now bills by usage, and Cursor puts the average review at $1.00–$1.50, depending on pull request size and complexity.[1] Bugbot comes with the Premium, Super, Ultra, Teams and Enterprise plans, not with Free or Plus.[2]

So the bill follows how often reviews run: 5 developers at 20 reviews each pay $100–$150 a month. On our 50-PR benchmark Bugbot found 74 of 158 known issues,[3] so 50 reviews at Cursor's average would come to $0.68–$1.01 per known issue found. IonWarp Pro is $49/mo for the whole workspace.

How Cursor bills Bugbot

  • Individual plans

Premium ($30 a month), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200) include it.[2] Reviews use the plan's included usage first, then prepaid credit or on-demand usage, if you turned it on.[4][5]

  • Teams

Teams starts at $30 per user a month.[2] Reviews bill from the team's prepaid credit, or from on-demand spend on a legacy Teams plan.[5]

  • Who gets the bill

Each review is billed once, to the team or personal account that turned Bugbot on for the repository, whoever opened the pull request.[5]

  • The old $40 seat

Existing subscribers move at their first renewal after June 8, 2026, so an annual plan bought in May 2026 keeps the seat price until May 2027.[1]

  • Autofix is separate

Autofix runs on Cloud Agent credits, billed at your plan's rates, not as part of the review.[5]

How to lower a Bugbot bill

# .cursor/config/bugbot.yaml
version: 1
triggers:
  drafts: false
frequency: oncePerPr # everyPush | oncePerPr
review:
effort: low # low | default | high | smart
  incremental: true
  1. Review once per pull request

Bugbot reviews every push unless you set frequency to oncePerPr in the repository's config file. Each developer can also set it for their own pull requests.[5]

  2. Choose the effort

Low is cheaper, slower and close to Default in quality; High costs more.[5] Cursor's own runs put High at 35% more bugs found.[1]

  3. Leave drafts out

With drafts: false, draft pull requests stay out of automatic reviews.[5]

  4. Check your real average

Review activity is in Bugbot under Automations, and Enterprise teams can read each review's cost from its API.[5] Compare that with the $1.00–$1.50 average.

What Cursor Bugbot costs a team a month

At Cursor's average per review.[1] A real month moves with pull request size, effort and how many pushes start a review, and a seat on a plan that includes Bugbot is extra. IonWarp's column is its cheaper paid plan for that many developers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does Cursor Bugbot cost?

There is no seat fee: Cursor puts the average review at $1.00–$1.50, depending on pull request size and complexity (Cursor, Nov 2026). Reviews come from your plan's included usage on an individual plan, or from prepaid credit on Teams.

Is Cursor Bugbot free?

No. Cursor's Free and Plus plans do not include it, and its Bugbot page lists a trial only for Enterprise teams, through their account team.

Does Bugbot still cost $40 per seat?

Not for new customers: Cursor removed the $40 seat fee in May 2026 (Cursor, May 2026). Existing subscribers move to usage billing at their first renewal after June 8, 2026, and can switch earlier in the dashboard.

Do I need a Cursor plan to use Bugbot?

Yes: Premium, Super, Ultra, Teams or Enterprise. Your developers do not need to write their code in Cursor, because Bugbot reviews the pull request on your git host.

Is Cursor Bugbot worth the price?

On our 50-pull-request benchmark it had the second-best F1 of the four apps, 51.4%, and the fewest unmatched findings, 56. It also found the fewest known issues of the four, 74 of 158. If your team wants fewer comments, it fits; if you want the most bugs found, Qodo and CodeRabbit found the most.

What does IonWarp cost?

Starter is free for 3 seats with 15,000 credits on signup. Pro is $49/mo for the whole workspace with 5 seats included, and Max is $149/mo with 10.
